Stray Cats!

Thursday, April 29, 2010

As you know, my laptop is entirely in Japanese now
and I wanted to know if my internet was too.
Poopy Firefox doesn't support Asian characters
so Firefox is in English, buuuuuut I can access Japanese
websites. If I could before I didn't know... hahaha, anyway...
My test word was cats, of course, and I was all excited
when I found a bunch of Japanese websites based off cats.
My favorite one I want to show you all is this website
where this girl/boy goes around and takes pictures of
stray cats in Japan.

http://www.cats-blog.com/

They are sooo adorable.
I looked through most of them and
I had to keep myself from going
"daaawwwwww" all the time.
The site isn't that hard to understand,
so if you try and navigate it, don't be to worried.

They are the cleanest stray cats you'll ever see

Japanese Computer?

Monday, April 26, 2010
My roommate Ginny (as seen on left) managed to get super drunk this weekend with her brothers and forgot to write her German midterm essay which was due... today. Sunday night she comes and tells me and instead of staying up all night and writing it, she decided to go to sleep and wake up at the crack of dawn to write it then. So from 5.30am to about 10.30am she was completely immersed in German and writing that essay. When I got back from my own classes she was huddled up on the floor in her usual odd position searching for how to turn her computer completely German. She tinkered and I nosed in every now and then to see if it worked.

Turns out that for both Vista and Windows 7 to change the language on the computer you have to buy some separate packs or something or other and we both were having no part of it. She kept looking though and I cheered her on. After about 15minutes of silence she whispers that she put a link on my facebook wall and that she found a program that would change her computer to German at no cost. She told me that I should change my computer to Japanese, but that her's would just be the test run to see if the program worked.

It did!

Everything was in German! The welcome screen, the start menu, everything. So with her enthusiasm, I decided to change my computer to Japanese. Besides, the best way to learn it is if you're constantly immersed in it, no?

Here is the link if anyone wants it: http://www.froggie.sk/
There is a way to change it back if you don't like it, so don't freak if it gets overwhelming. I cannot claim anything for it's safety, but so far my computer is amazing and EVERYTHING is in Japanese. I figured I might as well since i already changed my iPod to Japanese and my facebook to Japanese, why not my laptop?

It is sooooo cool. I am learning kanji left and right, it's blowing my mind. It's a nice feeling to know that if anyone tries to nose into my computer they wouldn't be able to read anything, hahaha~ Although I think it'd piss my Dad or my boyfriend off if they ever had to use it... Ah well~

Pokemon Diamond

Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Last time I posted I was neck deep in Ninja Town, but now I am at the final puzzle and it is so hard I finally just had to set it down. I could not make it past the first wave and it was killing me! I'd spend hours placing and replacing my little ninjas, but to no avail. So before I broke my friends game I had to just set it down. After I set down Ninja Town, my gaming life grew a little boring. It was the weekend after St.Patrick's day and the brand spanking new HEART GOLD AND SOUL SILVER CAME OUT.

Yeah... who cares right? I definitely didn't. I had never played a pokemon game in my life and every time my group of friends found out, the look of repulse and pity would pass over their faces. "Where di your child hood go?" It went to Dragonball Z and World of Warcraft, that's where! But I grew curious and when we went to go get my friends pre ordered HEART GOLD AND SOUL SILVER I decided I would buy Pokemon Diamond. Started playing it that night and since then haven't stopped.

I don't know what the big deal is though. It is the ultimate time wasting game like The Sims. There is no end to it. After you finish the main story line and the extra little side story lines, all you do is catch pokemon. It's a never ending game because then the makers come out with another game and MORE pokemon and little kids and college students try not to crap themselves as they wait in line to find out what new start pokemon there will be.

But I digress. I am having so much fun playing this game. I want to catch them all!
Well... only the cute or cool looking ones...
My main party currently consists of
Levels 70, 60, 59, 63, and 63 respectively.

I've been playing for 125hours and I know my
pokemon lvls are rather sad, but give me a break...

I bet you're wondering, where is her sixth pokemon?
Well, I have yet to decide which pokemon is to be my sixth. I defeated the Elite Four with those and a Medichamp - lvl 59, but I'm training a bunch of pokemon I really like, so it may change.

Also, The elite Four should be called the ELITE FIVE. After I defeated the Elite Four I was jumping off the walls, i was so excited, but then the fourth leader was like
"Oh! By the way! You have to defeat the champion! Good luck!"
...
...
...
...
And I nearly pooped myself.
I was so mad because half my pokemon were dead and I didn't know when I started fighting the gym leaders I couldn't go ba ck and it was just a mess. I ended up dying before the Champion could pull out her second pokemon so I went back and retrained all my pokemon. I eventually beat them and boy did it feel good.

Then my quest for a Dragonair and a Feebas (so I can train it myself to get a Milotic) started.
I will get these!

Point is that so far I am really liking Pokemon and over the summer I'm going to have to trade my boyfriend for his DSlite so I can play the gameboy pokemon games.

Before I stop talking about pokemon, I just want to say that I HATE GOLBAT. With a passion. It's everywhere, constantly laughing at me. Oh? Did you need to go through this cave? SORRY. GOLBAT HERE. BWAHAHA!

It's the bloody Bidoof of the sky.

I hate it...
Crobat is pretty cool though...

Enough of Pokemon.
Over the summer I am happily moving with my boyfriend in Michigan~ Although I will not be able to go to as many Sugar Gamer events as I'd like to - even now it's rather difficult - I will try and be there as often as I can~ I'm starting my job search now, but I jsut wanted to share because although nervous I am, I am very excited!

I am transferring to a college in Chicago next year, either Loyola or Roosevelt. Loyola has been my dream school since the beginning of time. I was birthed and Loyola called out to me. Anyway~ I am torn on either going to Loyola or going to Roosevelt because if my mother gets her job at Roosevelt - I'd get to go there for free... or half off or something, but it would be VERY easy to pay for. Loyola on the other hand has more of what I'm looking for, but costs a bloody 42k.
I'll have to ponder it more if my mother gets the job.

Hopefully I'll update this more often now that my college classes aren't tying to destroy me.

Tata for now though
