Dead Space

Sunday, March 27, 2011
It had been a very long time and I am guilty of neglecting my Sugar Gamer duties, so in an attempt to bring them back, here I am.

My game escapades over the last month.

Over the summer of 2010, I moved in with my wonderful boyfriend and we now have a house out in Michigan. When we first moved in, however, we did not have internet or cable, just an xbox 360 and a few games. The entire summer I pretty much played Oblivion. I was skeptical at first on how good it was going to be after watching my boyfriend play, but once i started I couldn't stop. While the game was fun as hell, it all depended on what class you chose.

I was a cool nightshade WIELDING MAGICK, STEALTH AND ARROWS INTO AN ALMIGHTY POWERFUL BEING BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA
but I could be one shotted by the smallest of creatures.

It made the game difficult at times, constantly running and trying to find an area to perch and shoot the enemy. At times they would glitch on the rock I was on and kill me with lightening or fire (those damn elementals). I was a little disappointed that all the Oblivion Gates looked the same inside, I was hoping each other would be a different kind of world, like a snow world or a forest world. ALL IN ALL, the game was very very entertaining but as soon as the game is over with and you finish the main quest, I didn't really wanna play it anymore.

During my winter break I finished up Fable 3 which I was hoping would be similar to Oblivion, but it was a little too cartoony for my taste. Still super fun and I did every quest and made mad amounts of cash. It was shorter than I expected, but then again I did spend a good month on Oblivion while I only spent about a week or so on Fable 3. I ended up with a good ending of course because even during games I feel bad choosing the bad options. She ended up getting a bunch of scars too. My boyfriend finished the game without dying once! And said that someone had to really try to die in the game because of how easy it was. This is very true even though I ended up dying more times than I want to say...

Not sure why they let this guy live since he tries to have you killed and all...
The highlight of the game, beyond the colorful and interesting places and quests, had to be the gnome quest. I did not finish it, but the comments that came out of those gnome's mouths were amazing and quote worthy, I suggest you look them up!

Moving on, I managed to get an ACE card from a friend and have been playing Cooking Mama like you wouldn't believe. I never imagined that the opinion of a pixilated mother would have me begging for her approval and gushing when I crack animated eggs without a flaw. THEN I had been playing Mario Kart, one of the most infuriating games in the entire world. Yet no one knows Mario Kart pain like I do. I managed to accidentally break my drift button (the right trigger) and deleted all my save game info (my mario kart is in japanese). Worst day of my life, BUT I WOULD NOT LET MARIO KART BEAT ME.
NO. It wasn't going to win just because a stupid drift button was broken. I would show it who is boss, so I decided to ACE every. single. track with out drifting.

NOT ONLY DID I DO IT. But I got every bonus track and character with A's on all my cups. SUCK IT MARIO KART. SUCK IT.
I won.

While i have won in the area of Mario Kart, I have also lost a battle with a video game I have been trying to beat for a long long time.

Dead Space... how I miss thee...
The story goes that 3 years ago, I bought the game for the PC and I was so excited. I installed it and my mother and I sat down to play it when something seemed a little odd. There was a significant lag in the game. I went to the settings and tinkered with them so they were all at their lowest, but it was still happening. So I called the support people and they made me go on canyourunit.com. It was on my mothers computer and the video card wasn't up to date. It was a fairly old computer and we had already bought a new video card so I could play World of Warcraft. So I decided to wait for college so I'd have a laptop to play it on.

My mother bought me my laptop for college and asked what I wanted on it and I said "It doesn't matter so long as it can play Dead Space!" I waited in anticipation for the mail to come everyday with my brand spanking new laptop until it finally came! I sat down and ran the system test as the first thing I did and guess what?

IT CAN'T RUN DEAD SPACE. FUUUUUUUU-
It meets ALL of the system requirements but because the video card is the factory made videocard the delay still happens. My life was in despair. But I knew one day I would save the money to update my videocard on my laptop! So I kept the game... and I waited... and waited... I wasn't going to give up on playing the game! I was determined!

However, it has been three... long... years... and I think the battle has been lost. I need to sell the game because I'm not going to be able to play it... So I went to the GameStop, but they don't buy PC games. Despair. I went to another game place that I knew bought PC games and they would only buy it off me for 1$.
I didn't hold on to this game to sell it back for just a dollar, especially after everything I went through. So now it's sitting lonely on my desk. Brand new, no scratches. I did buy Dead Space for the PS3 for 20$ though, so I'll still be able to play it, but I feel bad for not being able to sell the PC version off to a loving and caring owner like I was.

If you or anyone you know wants to buy it off me that would be amazing. It needs to be played!

I also started playing FEAR for the xbox 360. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING. The save points are so far apart that it becomes infuriating that I have to walk away from it so I don't break the controller. But now I have Dead Space to play, so I don't have to worry about it... especially since the second one is out, I need to get on this!

School first though... school first and that has been the most frustrating thing of all lately which is why I haven't been around at events and what not, between school, school work and my job, I've had no time for anything except the weekends which I try to spend with my loving man beast of a boyfriend.

All in all, I'll try and keep this updated a little more regularly~ Maybe I'll talk about my new Sims 2 escapades next time!
However I need to go write a philosophy paper that I don't care much for though!
Hahaha, tata for now

I Don't Want To Complain...

Sunday, July 4, 2010

But I am.
I love work, I love having a job, I enjoy working for the money I make.
I don't like how I'm working every weekend this month from 4pm to about 2am.
Good bye summer and good bye ever doing anything fun on the weekends.
That sucks.
I'm going to end up seeing a lot of movies by myself on Monday mornings
or some bullshit like that.

Ah well.
